A historical destination for ski lovers, so much that it is frequently a setting for important sporting and social events, like the annual events with the World Cup races, the World Championships in 1997 to the recent world consecration as reference point for winter sports with the skiing competitions of the Winter Olympics and Para-Olympics of Turin in 2006.

In addition to the possibility of ski connections on foot with five nearby resorts, Sestriere also offers skiers 89 cutting-edge ski-lift systems which allow to use the large district of the Milky Way in total comfort, for a total of 400 km of slopes, 120 of which are made from artificial snow.


For those passionate about cross-country skiing Monterotta offers a 10 km slope and the possibility to reach, in a few minutes by car, the Olympic ring of Pragelato immersed in the Troncea Valley Natural Park.  
Two pools (one indoor and one outdoor), the sports hall with gym, squash, tennis, basket volley and five a side football courts, the Sled-dog centre for excursions with sled dogs and the ice rink, complete the offer of sports/recreational activities of the resort. 

The Centro Culturale Casa Olimpia (Cultural Centre), the cinema theatre, the local restaurants and the discotheque, offer enjoyable alternatives for your evenings in Sestriere.
